La conceptualización de la sociedad actual: aportaciones y limitaciones

Abstract

One of the characteristic facts in the human and social sciences from the first half of the 20th century is the effort to conceptualize today's society. After the distinction between modern and postmodern society there is a process of definition of contemporary conditions, a moment of 'crisis' that manifests itself in different areas such as 'the end of ideologies' in political thought. This article exposes, analyzes and compares the most outstanding epithets of current society, not exhaustively, where a classification is proposed according to the conception of society due to its causes, its consequences or the oversized nature of some of its characteristics. Faced with this fragmented vision of society, it will be necessary to confront the social fact in a more complex way, which is why it should include the contributions of critical theory, of the concept of reflective society.

Unos de los hechos característicos en las ciencias humanas y sociales a partir de la primera mitad del siglo XX es el esfuerzo por conceptualizar la sociedad actual. Tras la distinción entre sociedad moderna y postmoderna se esconde un proceso de definición de las condiciones contemporáneas. Un momento de ‘crisis’ que se manifiesta en diferentes ámbitos, como ‘el fin de las ideologías’ en el pensamiento político. El presente artículo expone, analiza y compara los epítetos más destacados de la sociedad actual, no de forma exhaustiva, donde se propone una clasificación según se conciba la sociedad por sus causas, sus consecuencias o por la sobredimensión de algunas de sus características. Ante esta visión fragmentada de la sociedad, será preciso afrontar el hecho social de forma más compleja, por lo que se deberá incluir las aportaciones de la teoría crítica, del concepto de sociedad reflexiva.
