Abstract: The search for mechanisms that allow invariant neuronal representations has been always of great interest since the achievement of invariances still is, at different levels, an open question in the theory of neuronal function. In this paper we present the formulation of a theoretical mechanism for visual representation which is invariant against general changes of light intensity. The model, which is an example of the interaction among Cybernetics, Systems Theory and Artificial Perception Systems, takes into account the different kinds of operations that so far have been described in different cells of the visual pathway and the biologic architecture that is necessary to perform them together with the necessary connections among processors. Structural basis of this schema in natural systems are found in Lateral geniculate Body. Finally, we include an example on Image Processing and a discussion on the conditions in which the model can be of practical use.
