Resumen: This paper analyzes the variables used to measure the tourism competitiveness of inductor destinations in Brazil by the theoretical perspective resulting of the integration of the approaches of Evolutionary Economic Geography (EEG) and Relational Economic Geography (REG), proposed by Sanz-Ibanez & Anton-Clave (2014). It is an exploratory qualitative research that uses the content analysis technique to perform a classification of the Brazilian competitiveness monitor variables based on base of the EEG-REG pillars. The results indicated that 38.2% of the variables are related to the Conceptuality pillar, 18.4% with the Human Action pillar and 43.4% with the Path Dependence pillar. The study presents as final considerations that the use of the EEG-REG approach in tourism competitiveness analysis is still preliminary, but complementary to the neoclassical perspective. Also, it indicates that need to evolve the tourism monitors to include in its foundation the theoretical base of EEG-REG, in order to generate specific information linked to evolutionary trajectory of each destination contributing to the development of local public policies.
