Abstract: In this paper we have considered the huge amount of scrap tyres generated in Gran Canaria Island. These non-reusable end-of-life tyres usually end up in landfill or dumps, causing damage to the environment. Both, European and national legislations forbid uncontrolled accumulation and promote for recycling processes of residues generated by the population. Nowadays there is no processing plant for scrap tyres in Gran Canaria. In order to collaborate with the environmental protection and carry out the law in force, we have developed a plant design for the processing of scrap tyres. We estimated this process for12,000 tonne/year of non-reusable end-of-life tyres from vehicles and trucks by mean a mechanical grinding which conclude as ground rubber, steel and textile cords.
