Abstract: Corrosion resistance of five different alloys (Orion 26-1, Uranus 65, Uranus 50, 472 BC and Uranus S1) in phosphate buffer (pH = 11.5) with adding of chloride ions was examined All alloys revealed a passive behaviour. Orion 26-1 and Uranus 65 stainless steels did not present pitting corrosion so, a very good corrosion resistance in phosphate buffer with 0.5M NaCl. Pitting corrosion was detected on Uranus 50, Uranus S1 and 472 BC alloys at electropositive breakdown potential values; pitting protection potentials present noble values, resulting a good resistance to pitting corrosion.
