Abstract: The rapid and extensive proliferation of international businesses through the internet raises questions about the validity of the slow and gradual globalization model proposed by the Uppsala School. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a new assessment of this model in order to determine whether or not it should continue to hold a prominent place in the teaching of and research on international business.Having used the duration models on the data from a survey of business strategies in 1990, 1994, and 1998, we obtained results that show that the stepwise globalization model continues to be valid.Nevertheless, the speed at which companies have gone through the stages that comprise the globalization process has been gradually increasing.
