New structures, such as social networks, and new technologies modify our perception of the learning process. This perception combined with the current unemployment context and the rising life expectancy; draw a new scenario where the need of a new learning frame is not a choice. For this reason we have developed and applied a new learning methodology embedding a bottom-up strategy into our social learning model, known as Suricata Model. Our methodology allows our students to improve their skills and develop their own empowerment. Our aim with this paper is to share the results of this new empowering methodology's application to a very specific population segment; the elderly. We have measured sustained behavioral changes, not just by concerning about the individual learning processes, but also affecting the organizational and community dimensions of this group. Thus, through this paper we propose the development and the experience attained by applying that methodology to the elderly group in order to provide them a good chance to develop their social and personal skills. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/72317 | ISBN: | 978-84-616-3847-5 | ISSN: | 2340-1095 | Fuente: | 6Th International Conference Of Education, Research And Innovation (ICERI 2013), p. 4821-4830, (2013) |
