La selección de los elegíacos latinos en las Setentiae et Exempla (1557) de André Rodrigues de Évora

Abstract

In this work, we have studied the relationship between the excerpta of the Roman elegiac poets (Tibullus, Propertius, Ovid and Maximianus) selected by Andre Rodrigues de Evora in his Sententiae et Exempla (Lyon 1557) and the most relevant florilegia of the first half of the sixteenth century (N. Mirabellius 1503, J. Murmellius 1507, O. Mirandula 1507 [1538] and G. Maior 1534), in order to establish (a) the degree of originality of the former, and (h) the different procedures of re-utilisation of the preceding florilegia. The conclusion derived from this study reveals that, at least as regards the elegiac poets, the Sententiae et Exempla are"a florilegium of florilegia".

En este trabajo hemos estudiado la relación entre los excerpta de los elegiacos latinos (Tibulo, Propercio, Ovidio y Maximiano) seleccionados por André Rodrigues de Évora en sus Sententiae et Exempla (Lyon 1557) con los florilegios más relevantes de la primera mitad del siglo XVI (D. Nano Mirabelio 1503, J. Murmellio 1507, O. Mirándola 1507 [1538] y G. Maior 1534), para establecer su grado de originalidad; los procedimientos de reutilización de los florilegios precedentes y concluir que, al menos con respecto de los poetas elegiacos, las Sententiae et Exempla son un florilegio de florilegios.
