Issue Date: | 2009 | Journal: | Metalurgia International | Abstract: | The corrosion behaviour of aluminium bronze (Gaudent and NPG+2 alloys) in simulated saliva was studied by potentiodynamic polarization and by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The main parameters of the corrosion process were established. The immersion of these alloys in artificial saliva reduces the intensity of the corrosion process but not influences the type of the corrosion. In all cases a pitting corrosion was evidenced. The results were completed with microstructure observation and SEM analysis. As the immersion time increases from 1 min to 1 day and 1 week respectively, the NPG+2 alloy (CuAl based alloy with 2% Au) shows a higher value of polarization resistance compared with the Gaudent alloy. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/72285 | ISSN: | 1582-2214 | Source: | Metalurgia International [ISSN 1582-2214], v. 14 (12), p. 41-50 |
