Abstract: This paper presents results of an experiment in which tourists are informed both personally and non-personally about the water savings potential of their decisions about changing towels and bed linen. Tourists who were informed about the consequences of their actions reduced more the number of times that their towels or bed linens were changed. The provision of an information briefing personally at the reception had a higher impact on sustainable behaviour. The evidence shows there is scope for a higher sustainable behaviour of tourists by implementing social awareness and information provision policies.
