Resumen: In this article, a mechanistic process-based model is developed, for accurate predictions of pig farms wastewater behavior in free water constructed wetlands. Twenty-six variables were considered in order to simulate the simultaneous hydraulic, physical, biochemical and physico-chemical characteristics of different processes that are happening in this system. The proposed model was developed by optimization of the advection-diffusion-reaction equations. For that, Stokes equations and the Anaerobic Digestion Model No. 1 were implemented. The mathematical analysis of the model involves the use of a numerical model, the finite element method, and flowchart-based strategy planning. Numerical simulation in a two-dimensional model using open access software (FreeFem++) are presented to demonstrate the dynamic behavior of the proposed prototype.
