Viana's Antigüedades (1604) is an epic poem whose central topic is the conquest of Tenerife. In spite of its being a literary piece, Viana's poem has always been included among the sources for the primitive history of the Canary Islands, especially in what concems the world of the aboriginal guanche. In this study we consider two aspects of the aboriginal world as they appear in the Poem: the place names and anthroponyms based on the guanche toponomy.en_US
