La gestión de la información en el uso de PLEs por parte del alumnado de la ULPGC

Abstract

Esta comunicación, procedente del Proyecto financiado CAPPLE (referencia EDU2012-33256), presenta los resultados obtenidos de analizar los PLE (Entornos Personales de Aprendizaje) de estudiantes de la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria y concretamente en la Dimensión denominada Gestión de la Información. De esta dimensión nos centraremos en cómo el alumnado busca la información para mejorar su aprendizaje. La muestra es de 181 estudiantes (128 mujeres y 53 hombres), pertenecientes a las cuatro ramas de conocimiento de la Universidad. En los resultados, encontramos que en general cuando el alumnado quiere aprender algo nuevo acude a la red, aunque existen diferencias al analizarlos por ramas de conocimiento. Suelen usar un único motor de búsqueda y por tanteo, aunque también acude a sitios especializados sobre todo los de ciencias y ciencias de la salud que acuden a buscadores temáticos y bases de datos. Encontramos, por tanto, que el alumnado que está a punto de finalizar la carrera usa como buscador Google, así como los blogs y la wikipedia, con algunas diferencias según los usuarios.

This communication, proceeding from the financed Project CAPPLE (reference EDU2012-33256), presents the results obtained of analyzing the PLE (Personal Environments of Learning) of students of the University of Las Palmas of Great Canary and concretely in the Dimension named Information Management. Of this dimension we will centre how the student body looks for the information to improve his learning. The sample belongs 181 students (128 women and 53 men), belonging to four branches of knowledge of the University. In the results, we think that in general when the student body wants to learn something new comes to the network, though differences exist on having ana-lyzed them for branches of knowledge. They are in the habit of using the only search engine and by trial and error, though also it comes to specialized sites especially those of sciences and sciences of the health that come to thematic seekers and databases. We think, therefore, that the student body that is on the verge of finishing the career uses as seeker Google, as well as the blogs and the wikipedia, with some differences according to users.
