Organización y contenidos de la propaganda de guerra británica en Canarias durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial

Abstract

En el marco de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y especialmente entre 1940 y 1943, Canarias se convirtió en escenario de la confrontación de ingleses y alemanes. El archipiélago pasó a ser protagonista de diversos planes que tenían como objetivo la cesión, uso u ocupación de las islas. Sin embargo, en un contexto de guerra total, el conflicto también alcanzaba a las naciones neutrales a través de instrumentos de propaganda y espionaje, que perseguían lograr los planes de la política internacional en territorio español. Así, Canarias fue protagonista del fuego cruzado de una guerra de palabras entre Gran Bretaña y Alemania.

Within the framework of the Second World War, and especially between 1940 and 1943, the Canary Islands became the target of international ambitions. The archipelago became the protagonist of important plans that intended the cession, use or occupation of the islands. Against a backdrop of total war, the conflict also reached neutral nations through propaganda and espionage instruments that sought to achieve the objectives established by foreign policy in Spanish territory. Thus, throughout the conflict, the Canary Islands were also the protagonists of a war of words that took place between Great Britain and Germany.
