Abstract: Nowadays, Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) is an important topic covering a large number of applications, based on the collaboration of users working together to accomplish a common goal. In addition, the integration of CSCW and the WWW vastly increases the advantages of these applications. A traditional but still active area in CSCW is Collaborative Editing (CE). The implementation of CE tools using the Applet-Servlet paradigm is also very interesting. For using these tools in the Internet it is necessary to implement multicast communications, In this paper we present a tool that we have implemented using an Applet-Servlet paradigm for Local Area Networks (LANs) and an emulation of a novel idea for CE in Internet using Active Networks (ANs) that will be integrated into Web-client, routers and Web-servers. At this moment we are implementing this novel idea using a communication heterogeneous LAN-WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) environment to emulate the unlike link latencies in Internet.
