Issue Date: | 2000 | Journal: | Proceedings Of The International Conference On Parallel And Distributed Processing Techniques And Applications, Vols I-V | Conference: | International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications (PDPTA 2000) | Abstract: | In the past, the most common way of network-based computing was, through wired networks. However, with advances in wireless communication technology, the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) has become a viable option for performing distributed computing. Taking this novel scenario into account, in this paper we present a cluster based on wireless and wired nodes. In this cluster, the wireless nodes can appear and disappear dynamically in a controlled way. We define a high level communication protocol in order to achieve mt efficient load balance and a reasonable execution and communication time within the cluster. Different communication techniques are also studied. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/53057 | ISBN: | 1-892512-52-1 | Source: | Proceedings Of The International Conference On Parallel And Distributed Processing Techniques And Applications, Vols I-V, p. 2915-2921 |
