Issue Date: | 1997 | Publisher: | 0379-6566 | Journal: | European Space Agency, (Special Publication) ESA SP | Conference: | 3rd ERS Symposium on Space at the Service of Our Environment | Abstract: | From January-July 1993 an experiment was conducted in the Southwestern Indian Ocean and in the NE Atlantic with the aim to analyze the relationship between oceanographic events and weekly satellite derived Sea Surface Wind Stress Curl (SSWSC) fields computed following the Rossby equation from the scatterometer ERS-1 data sets, and compared with satellite derived Sea Surface Temperature (SST) from AVHRR/NOAA imagery. SST and SSWSC imagery showed that variation in the ocean pattern occurs in apparent response to submesoscale oceanographic events such as fronts or eddies that varied on time scales of one week. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/52465 | ISSN: | 0379-6566 | Source: | European Space Agency, (Special Publication) ESA SP [ISSN 0379-6566], p. 1391-1395 |
