Title: | Analysis of excess molar volumes of binary mixtures of toluene with the hexanol isomers at 298.15 K | Authors: | Matos, J. S. Ortega, J. Garcia, M. V. |
Issue Date: | 1990 | Publisher: | 0040-6031 | Journal: | Thermochimica Acta | Abstract: | Excess molar volumes vE at 298.15 K were obtained for eight binary systems formed by toluene with the following hexanol isomers: 4-methylpentan-1-ol, 3-methylpentan-1-ol, 3,3-di-methylbutan-1-ol, 2,3-dimethylbutan-1-ol, 2-ethylbutan-1-ol, 2,2-dimethylbutan-1-ol, hexan-3-ol, 3,3-dimethylbutan-2-ol and 2,3-dimethylbutan-2-ol. The volumes were determined from measurements of the density with a vibrating-tube densimeter. The vE values are positive over the entire range of composition for all cases except for the system toluene+4-methylpentan-1-ol, where an inversion of the sign of vE is observed at x ≈ 0.1. The values are represented by rather asymmetrical curves of different shapes depending on whether the alkanol is primary, secondary, or tertiary. © 1990. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/52146 | ISSN: | 0040-6031 | DOI: | 10.1016/0040-6031(90)80632-9 | Source: | Thermochimica Acta[ISSN 0040-6031],v. 168, p. 127-134 |
