Abstract: In order to characterise the titanium behaviour as medical implant in the human body, preliminary studies on titanium electrode were done in Hank's solution. Using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy a change in the structure of the oxide film was found. The data obtained by polarization measurement and those of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were not in good agreement because of the presence of the space charge layer ("surface states") developed on oxide film.
