Abstract: Two main complexes comprising ultramafic to salic rocks and carbonatites are present on the island. Syenites and carbonatites from these complexes show up as radiometric anomalies. The calciocarbonatites have the highest values of rare earth metals, and these elements are mainly associated with carbonates, phosphates and silicates. The economic potential of these rare earth mineralizations is low.
