Abstract: It is very common in underground spaces (tunnels, mines, ⋯) that the dimensions of the void are variable and relatively small. On the other hand, the great power machines developed for mining and tunnel advancing have relatively large dimensions and some limitations related to it position at the face (turnning capability⋯ etc.). In this paper it is shown the analysis done through 3D computer aided design software, about the adoption of typical tunnel and mining machinery (scoops, dumpers, roadheaders, powered support) to the tunnel or mining void taking into account the local variations of their shape or dimension. The study is useful in the case of a selection of machinery because it allows to define the best equipment within the possible solutions. It is also interesting from a manufacturers point of view in order to do modifications in these machines during the designing phase. Finally, this kind of simulations are interesting for educational purposes.
