Resumen: In this paper, the use of optical wireless communications for Domotics is analyzed in depth. This study shows the capabilities and limitations of this technique as an alternative of RF for home device interconnection. The success of IEEE 802. I I and Bluetooth standardy-based devices ,for home applications can become a potential problem due to the reduced number of frequencies for channel allocation. Infrared communication is constrained by walls and furniture, reducing the size of communications picocells to the room size, avoiding co-channel interference problem. This prototype is designed to test full diffuse interconnection without pointing at commercial data rates (as usually domestic devices do not need transmission rates over hundred of Kbytes). For theoretical and experimental testing we have selected a basic I Mb/s channel, but this baud rate can be easily increased if it is needed.for, further applications.
