Abstract: This paper studies the port-city relationship taking as parameters the port activity and the location on port-related businesses in the urban, especially on the waterfront. To do that we differentiated between hard activities (directly related to the Port) and soft (indirectly related). This has been applied to the Atlantic port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). Results show how the population, the number of active enterprises and foreign direct investment improves as does the port activity itself.
