Abstract: This paper proposes a biometric system to identify people based on the pattern of finger vein. The system uses a database of human index finger images acquired on infrared range. The present proposal has applied Sobel detector, enhancement filter and a binarization process to get the vein pattern. The testing results have reached an equal error rate of 27.56%, and a Genuine Acceptance Rate of 100% for a False Acceptance Rate of 0%.
