Abstract: Magnetic resonance (MR) is a very useful tool in the study of musculoskeletal lesions. The intraosseous lipomas is an uncommon primary benign bone tumor that is usually diagnosed incidentally. The MR images of this lesion are highly characteristic. We present three cases of intraosseous lipoma, two located in distal methaphysis of the femur and the other in calcaneus, and we describe the MR images. Intraosseous lipoma is easily identified by MR since its image is that of a well defined lesion with a signal intensity similar to that of fatty tissue in all sequences
