Abstract: This paper proposes an automatic system in order to determine geometric parameters in different cities. That system is based on image processing techniques, and in which different parameters are obtained. The parameters extracted are the perimeter length and the area delimited by that perimeter, and can be used in order to calculate the level of sustainability of metropolitan zones. These tasks have been usually developed manually, and the system proposed is an advance in terms of time and effort.
