Abstract: This essay is an attempt to study the marine semiotization in the poetry of Josefina Plá. This marine corpus develops, paradoxically, in an inland culture. Josefina PIá, boro in the Canary Islands, lives in Paraguay since 1927. Her poetic work, as a system, is characterized by a personal code, which is based on the author's idiosincracy. Once we accept the poem as a codified system, our analysis will consist in identifying the symbolic elements ofthe text.
