Abstract: Nesting population of Caretta caretta in the island of Boavista (Cabo Verde, western Africa, FIGURE 1) has recently been discovered and, since 1998, it has been the purpose of management directed towards its conservation and to study the most significant aspects of their reproductive biology. This population consists of small-sized females; possibly due to the human predatory pressure for years, which could have resulted in a decrease of mean body size of females (Ballell et al., this volume).</p>
