La violencia económica: dominación invisible hacia la mujer

Abstract

El trabajo analiza la violencia económica como una forma de violencia de género invisibilizada que restringe la autonomía de las mujeres mediante el control, privación o apropiación de recursos financieros. Se examina su conceptualización, tipología y manifestaciones en distintos ámbitos: pareja, familia, trabajo e instituciones. Asimismo, se revisa el estado normativo en España, evidenciando vacíos legales y desigualdades territoriales, a la par que se destaca la influencia del Convenio de Estambul y de la reciente Directiva Europea (UE) 2024/1385. El texto subraya la necesidad de armonización legislativa y políticas públicas que fortalezcan la salud financiera de las mujeres como estrategia preventiva y emancipadora, contribuyendo a la igualdad real y a la erradicación de la violencia estructural de género.

The paper analyses economic violence as a form of invisible gender-based violence that restricts women's autonomy through the control, deprivation or appropriation of financial resources. It examines its conceptualisation, typology and manifestations in different areas: partners, family, work and institutions. It also reviews the regulatory situation in Spain, highlighting legal loopholes and territorial inequalities, while emphasising the influence of the Istanbul Convention and the recent European Directive (EU) 2024/1385. The text emphasises the need for legislative harmonisation and public policies that strengthen women's financial health as a preventive and emancipatory strategy, contributing to real equality and the eradication of structural gender-based violence.
