Patrimonio etnográfico, terciarización y paisaje: un caso de estudio en Gran Canaria

Abstract

This study deals with cultural heritage assets (CHAs) as both an object and a source of information. The heritage assets analyzed were of various types (commercial, agricultural, hydraulic, transportation and so on) and they corresponded to the municipalities of Santa María de Guía and Moya. In either case, hydraulic and agricultural assets predominated, both associated with agricultural economic activity. Through the study and analysis of censuses, FEDAC’s ethnography chart and fieldwork along with GIS work, it has been possible to determine the state of use/abandonment of the studied CHAs. These situations of abandonment must be justified not only by socioeconomic changes in the history of the Canary Islands, but also by the new trend of second residences and part-time agriculture.
