Language immersion is without a doubt one of the most effective language learning methods that there are. However, this has always been a rather exclusive service, a luxury reserved only for those able to afford traveling abroad, summer camps, or private schools. In this paper, we will conduct a review of the most relevant scientific literature to elucidate the cognitive principles that underpin the success of language immersion. Based on this analysis, we will elaborate a series of methodological proposals that have as a main objective teaching students how to create their own language immersion through daily use of authentic materials (books, Netflix series, etc.), language learning apps, and communicative practice in the classroom. Linguistic self-immersion is not only easily affordable for most students, but also a habit and a lifestyle. Teaching language learners how to massively consume native content for pleasure can foster autonomy, learner individualization as well as life-long learning.en_US
