Abstract: The transition period in dairy goats is a critical phase that spans between 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after parturition (Matthews, 2016). In this period, animals experience significant physiological and metabolic changes while they shift from the dry period to a new lactation cycle. To meet the energy demands for fetal growth and colostrum and milk production, dairy goats must mobilize fat reserves, which can increase the risk of metabolic disorders. Proper nutrition as well as dry-off and health management are essential to support energy needs, minimize health risks, and ensure an optimal lactation performance.
