Abstract: The experimental road built over a hot lava field between the towns of La Laguna and Las Norias on the island of La Palma has been constructed with materials from the recycling and crushing of lava flows, volcanic ash, lime and brine. The methodology used in the design, optimisation, impact assessment and decisionmaking in the drafting of the infrastructure layout project consisted of carrying out a multivariate regression study and a calorimetric study of the soil materials that make up the platform. In view of the good results obtained in the tests, it has been demonstrated that the evaporation of the brine supply due to the high temperatures is a natural stabiliser which modifies the internal structure of the soils of the different layers of the road infrastructure.
