Abstract: This study investigates the clinical efficacy of two single-dose otic treatments, Neptra® and Osurnia®, in dogs diagnosed with otitis externa. A total of 35 canine patients were included and monitored over a 7 and 21-day period using standardized clinical scoring (OTIS-3), cytological analysis, and follow-up evaluations. Both treatments demonstrated clinical improvement and reduction in microbial load, though relapse occurred in 51,4% of cases. The presence of underlying conditions, particularly allergic dermatitis, and perpetuating factors such as otitis media and canal stenosis, were found to significantly increase the likelihood of recurrence. Breed predispositions were also noted, with mixed-breed dogs, Chihuahuas, French Bulldogs, German Shepherds, and Labrador Retrievers being the most commonly affected. These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive diagnosis, including identification of underlying and perpetuating causes, to optimize long-term outcomes in the treatment of canine otitis externa.
