Abstract: The great Canarian poet Justo Jorge Padrón began in 2005 a great poetic epic with the generic name of Hespérida and the subtitle of Canto universal de las Islas Canarias with the purpose of singing the fundamental role that the Canary Islands have had in the history of the Atlantic world. The first book is dedicated to the time when the Canaries were in mythology, to the Guanche era and to the conquest of the Islands by the Crown of Castile. The second (2008), to the Colombian feat. The third (2019) to the first circumvallation of the world, with the specific subtitle of "The fascinating journey of Magallanes and Elcano". And now appears the fourth (2022) dedicated to the reign of Charles V, the great emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, the Caesar of the time of the Renaissance, the most powerful man in the world who held the crown of two entire continents. And it is done from the soliloquy that the aging monarch recalls of his life, leaning on a balcony of his Yuste palace where he has retired after his abdication to dedicate his last years solely to God.
