The investigation of surface texture is particularly relevant in the field of industrial design and product development. Textures must be addressed in the design stage of product development and significantly contribute to overall user experience. In the context of Industry 4.0, customization has become essential in product development. Surfaces textures play a key role in creating appealing and personalized products, allowing manufacturers and designers to offer unique products that supply individual customers’ needs. In this paper, textured surfaces samples have been generated with parametric design Rhinoceros 7’s plugin Grasshopper. These textures are highly randomizable and variable, ensuring customization. Moreover, a methodological approach to surface texturization design with Grasshopper has been made. Samples were materialized by stereolithography with photosensible resin, proving their viability by additive manufacturing. The results obtained are aesthetically attractive and visually striking textured surfaces, which are visually evaluated. This paper concludes that textured surfaces have an enormous potential when it comes to industrial design and product development, and that the means used allow the development of parameterized textures which can be modified in every stage of the design process. | URI: | https://accedacris.ulpgc.es/handle/10553/140430 | ISBN: | 9783031728280 | DOI: | 10.1007/978-3-031-72829-7_9 | Source: | Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering [ISBN 9783031728280], p. 105-118 |
