Abstract

In 2024, the bicentennial of the death of Agustín de Bethancourt, one of the most relevant engineers in the history of Spain, has been completed, perhaps the only examples comparable in their impact on Spanish science are Juanelo Turriano or Leonardo Torres Quevedo, although in times and radically different environ-ments. His search for excellence was not focused on a specific area, leaving its mark in very different areas, something that in this era of hyper-specialized training is even more striking and admirable.
