Issue Date: | 2025 | Journal: | Crustaceana (Leiden. Print) | Abstract: | This study examines the occurrence of species of the hermit crab genus Anapagurus in the Canary Islands, based on historical and recent information. The presence of Anapagurus laevis (Bell, 1845) and A. pusillus Henderson, 1888 is confirmed, albeit supported by a single record, while previous reports of A. longispina A. Milne-Edwards & Bouvier, 1900 and A. chiroacanthus (Liljeborg, 1856) are considered erroneous due to the misleading nature of the map on which they were based. The first documented record of A. chiroacanthus in the Canary Islands is provided and the list of Anapagurus species is updated accordingly. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/136459 | ISSN: | 0011-216X | DOI: | 10.1163/15685403-bja10434 | Source: | Crustaceana (Leiden.
