This project addresses myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) in dogs, a degenerative cardiac condition common in small and medium-sized breeds. It examines the normal anatomy and function of the mitral valve, the structural and functional alterations associated with the disease, and its clinical manifestations and progression. Additionally, clinical cases illustrating advanced complications, such as left atrial rupture, biventricular heart failure, and severe pulmonary hypertension, are presented. Finally, diagnostic and treatment strategies are reviewed, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and comprehensive management to improve the quality of life and prognosis of affected patients.en_US
