dc.description.abstractFeline injection site sarcoma (FISS) is an aggressive tumor believed to arise from the proliferation of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts in areas of chronic inflammation, particularly at injection sites. We have performed a retrospective study of 120 samples of cats from the Canary Archipelago that presented FISS in locations such as neck, thorax and hind limbs. In the case of this study, the most frequent neoplasm is fibrosarcoma, being this a malignant neoplasm with different presentations depending on the species, age, site and etiopathogenesis. This neoplasm is present in all domestic species, but they are more common in adult cats whose incidence has been increasing due to vaccination (Hendrick, 2017). There is no known sexual predisposition, although in our sample there is a higher proportion of females. In addition, we can also observe in our study that it occurs more frequently in areas of the thorax, neck and hind limbs due to the fact that this is the area of injection of the vaccine. After analyzing the average age of the cats that presented fibrosarcomas in these locations with those that presented it in the rest of the body, we can see that there is no significant difference between the age of the cats that presented fibrosarcomas in these locations and those that presented it in the rest of the body.en_US
