Wastewater from the brewery industry has complex characteristics and is a challenge for envi ronmental engineers in their search for treatment and reuse. The main objective of this study is to compare the physicochemical characteristics of wastewater from the brewery industry in Mo zambique and other African countries. The choice is due to the large volumes of water used by the brewery industry in its pro duction processes, as well as the effl uent management model that must be adopted. For this study, samples were collected, and their physical and chemical parameters analysed. The results were com pared with diff erent breweries industries in other countries in the area, the legislation in force in Mozambique and the values esti mated in the diff erent articles considered in the literature. With the results obtained, it was possible to characterise the wastewater from the brewery industry in Mozambique to fi nd the best method of treating these effl uents in a more environmentally friendly way. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/130859 | ISBN: | 978-84-9042-527-5 | Fuente: | 1st CONGRESS-BRIDGE to AFRICA [ISBN 978-84-9042-527-5], p. 80-87 |
