Abstract: In the zone between the Canary Islands (28ºN - 13.5ºW) and Mauritania (20.5ºN - 19ºW) the ducting tropopheric propagation in the 900 MHz band has a range longer than 700 Km. This is a privileged zone for the analysis of this type of propagation due to the stability of the atmospheric conditions. Using differente data sources, the meteorogical conditions that make possible the appearance of a temperature inversion layer will be studied. This inversion layer creates tropospheric ducts, which can be the responsible for the long-range communications establishment.
