Nuevos datos para la historia de las ermitas, hospitales y capillas de Huelva desde el siglo XVI hasta la actualidad

Abstract

Este artículo ofrece un acercamiento a la historia de las ermitas, hospitales y capillas que existían en Huelva desde, al menos, el siglo xvi hasta la actualidad. Para ello se han analizado las publicaciones existentes y, a continuación, se ha investigado en varios archivos de Huelva y Sevilla, atendiendo principalmente a las visitas pastorales realizadas a la vicaría de Huelva, donde se mencionaban los edificios religiosos de la ciudad. Por otro lado, a los testamentos, donde se han analizado las mandas religiosas, limosnas y la situación topográfica de las tierras de los testadores para averiguar los detalles de estos templos.

This article provides insights into the history of hermitages, hospitals, and chapels in Huelva, tracing back to at least the 16th century. The study involves an analysis of existing publications, followed by research in various archives in Huelva and Seville. It primarily focuses on the pastoral visits to the vicariate of Huelva, where the religious buildings of the city were mentioned. Additionally, the study examines wills to analyze religious bequests, alms, and the topographical situation of the testators’ lands to ascertain details of these temples.
