Unas octavas de Cairasco sobre Agaete. ¿Censuradas?

Abstract

Se intenta explicar la desaparición de unas octavas de la segunda edición de la Tercera parte del Templo militante de Cairasco donde nombra a familiares suyos, por las desavenencias entre un miembro del Cabildo Catedral y sus herederos. Conecto esta noticia con la desaparición de otras octavas del manuscrito del Goffredo famoso, la traducción de Cairasco de la obra de Tasso, donde se nombra a otro familiar del poeta. Extiendo la nota a la pervivencia de algunos de los versos censurados en un cancionero manuscrito bilingüe portugués-castellano de distintos poetas, y su conexión con otros autores de la época.

It is an attempt to explain the disappearance of some octaves from the second edition of the Third part of Cairasco’s Templo militante, where appoints some of his relatives, because of the disagreements between a member of the Cathedral Chapter and his heirs. I connect this story with the disappearance of other octaves of the manuscript of Goffredo famoso, Cairasco’s translation of Tasso’s work, which refers to another relative of the poet. The note deals with the survival of some of the verses censored in a bilingual Portuguese-Castilian handwritting anthology by different poets, and its connection with other authors of that period.
