dc.description.abstract | Pain management is a crucial component of appropriate patient care in veterinary, specially in orthopedic surgeries. Completely blocking the transmission of nociceptive impulses before performing a painful surgery helps us to reduce the inhalation anesthesia requirements, the amount of systemic drugs used in anesthesia and their adverse effects. This improves the course of intraoperative anesthesia, reduces postoperative pain and promotes better patient recovery. The main purpose of this study was to assess the use of locoregional blocks in orthopedic surgeries (forelimbs and hind limbs), evaluating the heart and respiratory frequency, systolic and diastolic pressure during the surgeries. In addition, the process of post-surgical awakening of the patients was assessed using the Modified Glasgow Pain Scale | en_US |
