El turismo como instrumento de desarrollo territorial. El caso del sur de Gran Canaria

Abstract

La compatibilidad del destino turístico maduro y las posibilidades de respuesta del territorio desde un enfoque espacial que contemple las exigencias, expectativas y necesidades del turista del siglo XXI. Entendiendo el turismo como una oportunidad para el desarrollo territorial insular, atendiendo a su limitada capacidad de carga y la vulnerabilidad de su sistema territorial y paisajístico, y al necesario equilibrio entre los cambios de entorno en la demanda y el consumo turístico del territorio. El análisis de la necesaria flexibilización y adaptabilidad del espacio turístico así como la necesaria adaptabilidad de la legislación, normativas y planes a una industria en continua transformación. Se trata de establecer algunas pautas que posibiliten la adopción de soluciones sostenibles y equilibradas capaces de satisfacer una demanda basada en el paisaje como materia prima, permitiendo la interacción de los agentes que intervienen en la actividad turística: el turista y el espacio físico en el que se desarrolla la actividad.

The compability of the tourist mature destination and the possibilities of response of the territory from a spatial approach that contemplates the requirements, expectatios and needs of the tourist of the 21 st century, as well as the included and current reading that the big offers us dates back. Understanding the tourism as an opportunity for the territorial insular development, attending to his limited capacity of load and the vulnerability of his territorial and landscape system, and to the necessary balance between the changes of environment in the demand and the tourist consumption of the territory. The analysis of the necessary adaptability of the legislation, regulations and plans to an industry in continuous transformation. It is a question of establishing some guidelines that make posible the adoption of sustainable and balanced solutions capable of satisfying a demand based on the landscape as raw material, allowing the interaction between the agents who intervene in the tourist activity: the tourist and the physical space in the one that develops the activity.
