dc.description.abstract | Gestational toxemia, also called gestational toxemia, is a metabolic disorder that occurs in small ruminants during the last phase of gestation. It is due to the fact that the animal's energy needs are greater than those provided by the feed. Propylene glycol and glucocorticoids are two types of pharmaceuticals used as treatment for this disease, as they provide an important source of energy and also stimulate gluconeogenesis. This clinical trial evaluates the persistence levels of glycemia in four groups of goats, where the control group was given no treatment, the P1 group only glucocorticoids, the P3 group only propylene glycol and the P2 group the combination of the two medical drugs. It is concluded that all groups have a significant increase in glucose with respect to their basal glucose, highlighting that the combination of the two medical drugs in the P2 group generates a greater increase than if the pharmaceuticals were administered separately. | en_US |
