Introduction: At present, protein supplements are the most widely used food supplements, especially in the world of sport. The lack of regulatory regulation means that a large proportion of these products make use of misleading advertising and data that does not comply with nutrition labelling, therefore, the need for accurate laboratory testing to establish their efficacy/safety profile for consumer welfare. Material and methods: Determination of total protein in 61 samples of protein powder supplements popular with consumers using the Kjedahlt method. Results: The results obtained show the discrepancy between laboratory determinations and the nutritional labelling of the various supplements. Conclusion: More than half of the samples (32) used in this study did not comply with the declared nutritional information. This highlights the need to achieve harmonisation and soundness of the regulations governing protein supplements in our country and at European level.en_US
