Abstract: The energetic needs of a seven islands archipielago, an important junction for world communication, with 7,815 square kilometers, and with about a million and a half inhabitants, are analyzed. Future water and energy demand for the next twenty years is calculated. Given the alarming problems of water shortage on the largest populated island, Gran Canaria, the authors considered the possibility of installing a low pressure and low temperature nuclear reactor to produce electric energy and to desalinate seawater
