Abstract: This paper presents a low power transmitter for 2.4-GHz-band IEEE 802.15.4 standard in 0.18 μm CMOS technology. This transmitter adopts a direct conversion architecture and comprises a quadrature passive mixer and a power amplifier (PA). The impact of two different PA topologies on the circuit is analysed in order to choose the most appropriate for this standard. The final transmitter design achieves 14dB conversion gain, 2dBm output power, 24dB Adjacent Channel Power Rejection (ACPR) and 0.6% Error Vector Magnitude (EVM). It only consumes 10 mW.
